AKWA IBOM FIRST LADY ATTENDS THE FUNERAL SERVICE OF LATE ELDER BRIDGET UDOH UDOFIA

 


Her Excellency Dr. Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel, yesterday attended the funeral service of late Elder Bridget Udoh Udofia mother-in-law to their Executive Chairman Ini Local Government Area . Rt.  honorable Israel Idaisin has been committed to mother Earth at her hometown Ukana Ikot Ntiense in ESSIEN Udim Local  Government Area 

The funeral was conducted by the Methodist Church Nigeria, Ukana circuit diocese of Essien  Udi local government area and Her Excellency Dr. Mrs Mathar Udom Emmanuel wife of the Governor  of Akwa Ibom state alongside other dignitaries were in attendance to bid the septuagenarian farewell.


Speaking during the service, the first Lady admonished the women in the state to lead a good life and emulate the deceased motherly character of caring for every child entrusted in her care as her very own.


While thanking God for a life well lived, she stressed that the deceased was a devout Christian who served in church all the time and also a respected mother who spent time on her knees praying for her children and her extended family, adding that her death is a great loss to the family, community and the church.



Dr. Emmanuel further enjoined the bereaved family to be courageous at this period and look up to God for comfort. She further advised the family to maintain peace and unity as their mother was a peace loving woman.


Speaking during the homily, Very Rev. Michael I. Akpan (JP), presbyter Ukana Circuit Diocese of Essien Udim Methodist Church thanked God for the life of the deceased as she lived a prayerful life and charged the congregation, to be Godfearing, faith filled and depict Jesus Christ in all that they do. Speaking on the topic "Don't be a fool", and drawing his text from Proverbs 12:16 admonished the congregation not to be fool by living their lives as though there is no God.


Describing fools as slanderous people with quick temper, acting without regards, he further added that the people should be driven by faith in God and not worldly things such as money, position, or power and other negative life styles which he referred to as ephemeral.


Very Rev. Akpan said that Christians should consider the stance and mind of God in any circumstances or situation before taking actions or reactions.


In appreciation during the thanksgiving by the members of the family, the daughter of the deceased, the wife of the Ini Council Boss, Mrs. Idaisin described Mrs. Emmanuel as a true and caring mother and thanked her for support and show of love during this moment if grief.
