'WE AREKEEN ON VICTORY IN EKITI, OSUN POLLS'

THE South West chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, has said the party and its leaders remain keen on ensuring that the party’s candidates emerge victorious in the forthcoming governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun States.

PDP Publicity Secretary in charge of the zone, Chief Sanya Atofarati, said this in a statement, in Ado Ekiti, on Sunday.

He explained that the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who is the zonal party leader was spearheading its strategy towards ensuring victory.

Atofarati further said, as part of moves towards achieving set objectives, a series of events have been lined up. They include: ongoing consultations, meetings and rapport with aspirants of the party in Ekiti State and other party leaders and stakeholders to get them to buy into preparations to ensure free, fair and credible primaries.

He stated that already, a meeting of the three zonal executive members namely: National Ex-officio, Adeola Ogunrinde; Zonal Ex-officio, Mrs Lanre Fajuyi, and the Zonal Publicity Secretary, Atofarati with Ekiti PDP aspirants and leaders which held last week, took far-reaching decisions.

Atofarati was silent on the resolutions of the meeting.

He, however, said “Our efforts are on the orders of the PDP Southwest leadership and in line with the quest of Oyo State Governor and PDP leader in the zone, Seyi Makinde, to return the party in all states in the zone to a winning streak.

“Even as the consultation continues, this will fast-track a hitch-free process of elections. We have less than two months until the January 2022 governorship primary in Ekiti.

“Our priority as one united party is simply to serve the people and we shall leave no stone unturned to ensure that our best foot is put forward.”

He said those who attended the meeting included some of the governorship aspirants: Senator Biodun Olujimi, an Ex-Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Kolapo Olusola; a former banker, Kayode Adaramodu, former senatorial candidate, Alhaji Lateef Ajijola and PDP National Treasurer, Wale Aribisala.

Party leaders at the meeting included: A former acting governor, Tunji Odeyemi; former PDP National Vice Chairman, Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe; and Dr Kunle Folayan.
