A'IBOM GOVERNOR'S WIFE CHARGES PARENTS ON CHILD UPBRINGING

Parents and guardians have been advised not to abdicate their duties as caregivers but to rather instill good moral values in their children for the betterment of the family and the society at large.

The wife of Akwa Ibom state Governor, Her Excellency Dr. (Mrs.) Martha Udom Emmanuel gave the charge on Sunday, at the St. Mary Catholic Church, Obio Offot, Uyo, where her Security Aide, Mrs. Ama Philip with her husband, Mr. Echie Philip dedicated their baby, little Master Daniel Echie Philip to God.

The governor’s wife said good parenting entails the ability of parents to raise children in the fear of the Lord to take responsibility of their actions and impact positively on the society when they grow up.

She thanked God for the safe arrival of the baby to the family and described him as God’s gift to them for proper upbringing. While praying that the baby will herald more of God’s special blessings to the family, Dr. Emmanuel urged the parents to inculcate in their kids honesty, prudence, discipline and love for one another and respect for constituted authority in the society.

Mrs. Emmanuel also took out time to appreciate her aide for being such a wonderful staff, saying her dedication to duty remains unmatched. She as well thanked the ministers of the church for always interceding for the state and called for more prayers and support.

Earlier, the Minister in-charge of the parish, Rv. Fr. John Nkereuwem in his brief welcome note, appreciated the governor’s wife for finding time to worship with the congregation and prayed God to bless her.

Similarly, in their Thanksgiving, the family of Mr. Echie Philip, specially thanked God for His grace all through the journey, stating that but not for Him, it would not have been easy.

They also extended their utmost appreciation to the Akwa Ibom First Lady for being a wonderful mother to all, saying her motherly and humane disposition has been a source of blessing to them.

The Sunday service also featured individuals and families thanking God for His mercies and grace on them so far in the year.

Among those who accompanied the governor’s wife were the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Felicia Bassey, the Hon. Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Idongesit Etiebet and members of staff of Her Excellency’s office.
