***Confers Lifetime Award on A'Ibom First Lady
***As Promise Land Choral Choir wins 2022 Most Outstanding Choir Quest
It was an evening of high praise and classical music performances on Sunday June 26, 2022, at the Insight Bible Church, Nsikak Eduok, Uyo, as the Fellowship of Gospel Music Ministers Association of Nigeria FOGMMON Akwa Ibom State Chapter, held her 2022 Annual Mega Celebration with the theme: "Enlargement."
Awards and recognition were also given to eminent personalities present at the event. The awardees were the wife of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Her Excellency Dr. Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel, who was bestowed with a Life Time Membership Award by the group in recognition of her commitment and contribution to the expansion of the gospel of Jesus Christ through Music, while the Senior Pastor of Insight Bible Church, Pastor Sylvanus Ukafia took home the Special Award of Honour in recognition of his immense contribution to the expansion of the gospel of Jesus Christ through music respectively.
Also on the night, after a keenly contested music quest by the various choirs drawn from the three senatorial districts of the state and adjudicated by eminent music personalities, The Promised Land Choral Choir won the 2022 Most Outstanding Choir, taking home the cash prize of five hundred thousand naira; while The Winners Voice Afaha Oku Choir, won the second position with a cash reward of three hundred and fifty thousand and the Praise Time Choir winning the third place position with a cash income of two hundred and fifty thousand naira respectively, thanks to the wife of governor.
Speaking shortly after receiving her recognition, the First Lady who had earlier conducted the women in her entourage to a popular hymn rendition in Ibibio language, said "the annual music festival was a spirit rejuvenating experience, noting that when people gather to sing praises to God, His blessings always abound."
Dr. Emmanuel expressed great delight a the formation of FOGMMON which according to her has helped showcased talents who would rather use their gifts in service to God and the body of Christ.
She called on the organisers of the annual event to sustain the tempo by intensifying their publicity regarding the annual event, saying "not much has been heard of their activities in the media space."
To the various choirs and ministers, the governor's wife encouraged them to always avail themselves to the leading of the Holy Spirit while singing, stating that ministering in the spirit blesses the soul more thus impact the kingdom of God.
Mrs. Emmanuel thereafter obliged the group's request for the state to host her 2022 National Convention, saying by November, all should be set to host the epochal event.
For the Senior Pastor of Insight Bible Church, Pastor Sylvanus Ukafia, the yearly music programme gives opportunity for the body of Chrisr to come together in unity to praise God, hence the decision of the Church to avail the group its facility for the event.
Other speakers of the night were the International President of FOGMMON, Minister Asu Ekiye, who gave a brief background on the formation of the group, while the state chairwoman, Pastor Ethel Odungide also gave a good account of the group's activities and achievements in the state.
All the choir participants were not left out as they went home with a cash prize of one hundred thousand naira respectively courtesy of the governor's wife benevolence.
