Inmates of Charles Walker Children's Home, Anua, Global Rescue Team Mission, Obo Atai Nsit Ibom, Lutheran Church Children's Home, Ikot Otong Nsit, Family Life Centre, VVF/Maternal Birth Injury Hospital, Mbribit Itam, Catholic Orphanage Home, Ikpe, Ini, Hand Maid of Holy Child, Ifuho, St. Joseph Hospital, Ukana Iba, Essien Udim, Gospel Village, Abak, Psychiatric Homes, Ikot Ekpene, Eket , Ikot Abasi Custodial Centre and Uyo Medium Security Custodial Centre have expressed appreciation to the wife of governor, Her Excellency Dr. Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel for her magnanimity and show of love as she doles out items worth a fortune for the celebration of Christmas.
Represented in Uyo Senatorial District by the wife of the House member representing Uyo State Constituency, Mrs. Mercy Eka, wife of member representing Nsit Atai State constituency, Mrs. Docas Mark Esset, wife of member representing Itu State Constituency, Mrs. Eno Kufre Edidem, others in the team are the Ibesikpo/Asutan Council boss, Hon. Akon Michael and wife of Chairman Nsit Ubium Mrs. Emem Orok, the governor’s wife said the donation was in the spirit of the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ who came to salvage man from misery, adding that the inmates of the facility are still very important to God.
She called on them to give their lives to Christ for he is ever ready to redeem them from their misery and as well use them for his glory.
At Eket Correctional Center, Dr. Emmanuel who was represented by the wife of the Hon. Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Local Government Affairs, Mrs. Bright Archibong, flanked by wife of member representing Oron/Udung Uko State Constituency Mrs. Affiong Bassey, wife of former Commissioner for Health, Mrs Nelly Ukpong, Wife of Chairman Ikot Abasi, Mrs. Annabel Affia and the PDP candidate Mrs. Selina Ukpatu said her visit was part of the social responsibilities of touching lives across board, imploring the inmates not to give up on life irrespective of the situation they have found themselves.
Similarly, at Ikot Ekpene Centers, Mrs. Emmanuel was represented by the Former Hon. Commissioner for Rural Development and Cooperative, Mrs. Ekemini Umoh, wife of the local Government Chairmen of Ikono/ Oruk Anam Mrs. Otobong Okoibu and Mrs Affiong Frank respectively, the President Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District women’s Forum, Hon. Inibehe Silas as well as Obonganwan Abigail Akpan, who all charged the inmates to celebrate the birth of the Saviour with love and optimism.
Dr. Emmanuel stated that Government is committed to the wellbeing of her citizenry especially the less privileged assuring that in a bid to giving them a sense of belonging, Governor Udom Emmanuel is keen about reaching out and showing love which is the real essence of Christmas.
Responding on behalf of the inmates at the centres visited across the three Senatorial Districts, Sis. Maria Obotama of VVF centre, Assistant Controller in Charge of Uyo Medium Security Custodial Centre, Mr. Ebereomu Julius Ogueri, Assistant Controller, Ikot Ekpene Custodial Centre, Mr. Edet Akpan, the deputy Controller of corrections at Eket and Ikot Abasi Respectively Mr. George Njoku and Mr. Ifanga Ifanga among others expressed appreciation to the wife of the Governor for her motherly disposition, show of love and preaching Christ through her lifestyle and prayed for the first family.
Items presented include tubers of yam, bags of garri, bags onions, bags of beans, cartoons of noodles, bags of rice, toiletries, cows, goats, bags of salt, and beverages among others.
