The wife of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State Her Excellency Dr. Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel today, joined her voice with other Governors' Wives in Nigeria to say, “END ALL FORMS OF VIOLENCE AGAINST PERSONS NOW".
She made the declaration today during the 3rd Annual Conference of the Nigerian Governor s' Wives Forum at Abuja with a theme: AWARENESS, ACCOUNTABILITY AND ACTION: SUSTAINING THE STATE OF EMERGENCY AGAINST GENDER BASED VIOLENCE.
In a welcome remarks, the Chairperson of the forum, Her Excellency, Dr. Mariya Aminu Waziri, the first Lady of Sokoto State expressed appreciation to all the partners especially the Nigerian Governor's Forum and other NGO for the continuous support in ensuring that NIGWF achieved its goals.
She also emphasised on this year's theme " as we come together today with the theme of AWARENESS, ACTION and ACCOUNTABILITY, I would like us to be reminded that there is much to do over the coming years, particularly as we get closer to the milestone of ending SGBV in Nigeria.
The immediate past Chairperson of the forum, H.E Erelu Bisi Fayemi together with her sisters beyond boundaries launched the SGBV ACCOUNTABILITY TRACKER, NATIONAL SGBV STANDARD OPERATION PROCEDURES, SGBV SERVICE PROVIDERS DIRECTORY and THE NIGERIAN FIRST LADIES HANDBOOK.
The event had in attendance the representative of the First Lady of Nigeria, H.E Mrs Aisha Buhari, wife of the President of Nigeria, Hon. Minister for Women Affairs and Social Development, H.E Dame Pauline Tallen amongst others.
