Governor's Wife Identifies Panacea for Moral Dissipation

Christian parents have been admonished to lead by example by constantly sharing faith with their children through the scripture, pray with them, build and encourage them in the way of the Lord by instilling moral rectitude that will sustain their faith in the journey ahead.

Akwa Ibom State governor's wife, Her Excellency, Dr. (Mrs.) Martha Udom Emmanuel gave the admonition, Saturday 19th, 2022, at the relaunch of the Children Evangelism Ministry CEM Vision in Uyo, the state's capital.

Dr. Emmanuel who was accompanied by the wife of the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Pastor Mrs. Patience Umo Eno and wives of chairmen of local government areas, decried the decline in moral values among children, due to the pollutant effects of the social media, and asked that parents must watch over their wards and teach them the word of God right from infancy to adulthood.

The governor's wife quoting from Isaiah 54 vs 13 and Proverbs 22 vs 6, noted that children are supposed to be taught the way of the Lord at childhood so they would not renege on their faith when they grow up to mix with the multitude.

"Let me thank the founder of CEM, Evangelist Egbuna Chukudile for this vision he started 43 years ago. I must say here that this is a vision whose time has come.

"We are in an era where the children ministry has been relegated to the background and many children have been taught the wrong things, but thank God for CEM that his re-echoing conversations on raising responsible and God fearing children for the future" said the governor's wife.

Speaking further, Mrs. Emmanuel who was quite impressed by the level of evangelism work done by CEM announced the donation of a parcel of land by the governor for the building of the proposed secretariat, and added that as Christians, "We must not allow Christianity to suffer in our time. If we don't invest in these young ones today, there will be great consequences tomorrow."

She called on churches, pastors , parents and caregivers to invest more time and resources in building the next generation who will sustain the message of Christ.

"Most of the secular artists who are making waves today actually started in the church. What happened to them? they derailed because maybe they never had good mentoring platforms that encouraged them to channel their talents in the way of the Lord,"  she remarked.

To the children, the governor's wife charged them to be conscious of who they are in Christ saying only the name of Jesus must be sustained on their lips for the rest of their days.

"Do not be deceived and cajoled into professing   another god except Jesus Christ who is the son of God. We are in the days where many are giving up their faith because of the pleasures of this world. Don't be like them, hold on to God's word and you will enjoy the benefits thereof."

While advising the young lads against indulging in crimes that are inimical to their future, she as well warned that they should be wary of sexual predators and report to appropriate authorities in case of any abuse.

Speaking earlier, the founder of Children Evangelism Ministry International, Evangelist Egbuna Chukudile in his brief remark, recounted with nostalgia how the ministry started in the state precisely at the College of Education in 1979 and how God has wrought wonders over the years.

He said the relaunch of CEM in various states of the federation was to retool and arm the children with God's word for the future. He regretted that many have gone astray due to negligence on the part of the church and parents and called on all Christians to partner with CEM to take the gospel to the next generation of men and women of faith.

Others who spoke at the event were the senior pastor of Insight Bible Church, Dr. Sylvanus Ukafia, the state coordinator of CEM, Evangelist Patricia Akhigbe, representatives of CAN / PFN chairmen, and the zonal director of CEM, Dr. James Udoh.
